FBI interviews Angelina Jolie and her children

Angelina Jolie has been interviewed by the FBI.

The 41-year-old actress and her kids were visited by two FBI agents at her Malibu home on Tuesday.

The agents, who spent more than three hours at the residence, were there to follow up on the incident between Brad Pitt and 15-year-old Maddox, though the visit was not an official investigation. The FBI is in a fact finding stage to determine if there’s evidence to warrant an investigation.

The incident in question occurred on Sept. 14, during a family flight home from Europe, when Pitt allegedly got into an argument with Maddox, although it has earlier been reported that the claims of abuse were "exaggerated or untrue" and there was "no inappropriate physical contact."

During their visit on Tuesday, the FBI wanted Jolie and the kids to walk through what happened step-by-step during that day on the plane, as well as what happened once the plane landed in Minnesota to refuel. The FBI is trying to determine the location of the plane during the time, if the aircraft was in US airspace during the time of the incident, and whether Minnesota authorities would have jurisdiction over the case.

The FBI is "continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued."

Meanwhile, Pitt has reportedly had his second visit with his children, held at an undisclosed neutral location. According to People, a monitor was present for the two-hour long visit, although Maddox was not. Pitt and Jolie's oldest child reportedly also did not attend Pitt’s first supervised visit.

Maddox also was missing from a recent family outing on Sunday, where Jolie was seen for the first time since filing for divorce from Pitt. According to an eyewitness, the actress and her other children -- 12-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne -- "looked very happy and relaxed" during their beach day.

"The kids were running around and they seemed happy to be doing well," the eyewitness shared. "Zahara ran out to the beach by the water. The kids were playing on the beach."

While Pitt and Jolie continue to lay low amid their recent divorce drama, the temporary custody agreement they struck last month is set to end on Thursday, after which the estranged couple has several options.

"Some of the options that they have at the end of this agreement are to extend the agreement, which is the most common thing to happen," criminal defense attorney Ambrosio Rodriguez said "They could modify it, so he has more time with the children, or if there's no agreement, [meaning] they can't agree, they could go to court and begin the lengthy legal process."
