Mom arrested for allegedly leaving her 9-month-old daughter in hot car while she auditioned at strip club

A 24-year-old woman was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, last week after allegedly leaving her baby girl in a hot car while she auditioned for a job as an exotic dancer.

Kelsey McMurtry locked her nine-month-old daughter in her car last Thursday while she was inside Déjà Vu Showgirls in Nashville, trying out for one of the strip club's vacancies.

A passerby noticed the child inside the locked vehicle and called 911. Witnesses allegedly told investigators the infant was left alone in the car for about 30 minutes.

Officers removed the baby from the vehicle, and say she was "drenched in sweat."

The baby girl was treated at an area hospital and was later placed with children's services, police say.

McMurtry's friend, 19-year-old Summer Taylor, allegedly told police she had been watching the child. But witnesses claimed that Taylor was also inside the strip club and that the baby was left alone during those 30 minutes.

McMurtry and Taylor both face child neglect charges. The women are being held on $15,000 and $10,000 bond, respectively, and at press time, their attorneys failed to respond to requests for comment.
