A massive billboard featuring Donald Trump at the Akoya site in Dubai was taken down by Damac Properties yesterday.
It comes just two days after it said it would stick by Trump International after Donald Trump on Monday called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States”.
The removal of the billboard suggests the developer may be reviewing its decision.
Damac also removed Trump signage on an installation next to the billboard at the Dubailand site where a golf course and hundreds of homes are under construction.
The huge signage had been advertising the Dubai-based developer’s Akoya development and the Trump International Golf Course with pictures of Mr Trump mid-golf swing alongside a picture of his daughter Ivana.
The Trump International Golf Course sign that had been displayed across the gate house in gold lettering was also removed.
“We cannot comment on the situation,” said Raed Gerges, vice president of communications for Damac. “Obviously you can see what has happened, but I have no comment on it. We will replace the images but I cannot say what the images will be yet.”
Damac shares fell 3.6 per cent yesterday, their seventh straight decline.
The Trump brand has become toxic since the billionaire reality tv star and Republican presidential front runner made his outrageous comments.
The Landmark Group on Wednesday suspended sales of all Trump branded items for its Lifestyle outlets indefinitely.
