A heart-broken wife narrates how her husband was raped in her presence and how it has destroyed their marriage

Yes, you read right. My husband was raped and no not by women, by men.

We were at home that Sunday night when someone knocked on the door, I asked who was there and the person mentioned our gateman’s name. I stood up
to open the door and two men rushed in slapping and beating me. My husband came out to see what what was happening and they turned the beating on him.

With gun to our heads they robbed us of every valuable items and destroyed our lives in the process.

The first thing that came to my mind when I realized I had opened the door for robbers was rape, I prayed so hard in my heart for God to protect me from being raped and protect us from death, it could never have occured to me in a million years to pray for my husband not to be raped.

As they were heading for the door after taking our valuables, one of them turned to my husband and told him to lie down, they took turns on him and made me watch. I cannot find words to explain the emotions that ran through my body that day. It was terrible. He fought hard but he was brutally beaten to surrender with threats to shoot us dead.

My husband shut down after the incident, he just shut down completely. It has been over a year now and he is a completely different man, it is like they took his soul with them.

He doesn’t want to talk to anyone about it, so its so hard to get help for him. He rarely talks to me and he doesn’t want to be touched at all. When I bring it up he gets really mad, he has shut me out of his life completely.

I know he is going through a lot but I don’t know how to help him or get help for him. I don’t know how to get help for myself too.
