Michelle Ekure graduated from the department of International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of Benin six years ago. After she left the University, she looked for a job for a while,
at a point she got a job in a company in Lagos, but she left because her boss was not paying her salary.
While looking for a job, she started buying and reselling sandals, then one day she thought of asking the shoemakers if they can make shoes for her with her own label on it. That was how she started. She later learnt how to make the shoes herself.
Today, she has six apprentices and her own work space, where she makes shoes and sells directly to customers.
She has sold shoes to celebrities including comedian Alibaba, and her sales per week are now over 50 pairs.
Michelle story should inspire young people looking for jobs to learn a trade and start something that can earn them money, while waiting for their dream jobs.
