MMA star and boxer, Kimbolton Slice dies at 42

Boxer and mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice has died at age 42, according to his website.

Slice, also known as Kevin Ferguson, was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons on Monday in Coral Springs, FL, according to media reports.

He was a well-known street fighter before he signed with UFC in 2003. His boxing record was 7-0 with six knockouts.

He also had a stint as an actor, and most notably appeared in The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption.

"One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport," Bellator MMA President Scott Coker said in a statement obtained by multiple media outlets.

"Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."
