A worker at the Memphis airport ended up with a layover in Texas after laying himself down for a poorly-planned nap at work.
The unidentified FedEx employee was transported from the tarmac in Tennessee to Lubbock in the Lone Star State after falling asleep in the plane he had helped load early Friday morning.
Sound asleep when the flight took off at 3:46 a.m., he later woke up mid-flight en route to Texas and knocked on the cabin door of the unsuspecting pilots.
They did not open the door for the sleepy stowaway, though he was able to use a “jump seat” in the cargo hold during landing, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
The employee was questioned by police and airport personnel, but was released and will not face any criminal charges.
“We are aware of an incident involving FedEx Flight 1459 from Memphis to Lubbock. There was never any danger to our employees or cargo,” a FedEx spokesman said.
