Miracle baby who was so small her dad's wedding ring fits on her wrist celebrates first Christmas

A miracle baby girl who was born weighing just one pound has been pictured celebrating her first Christmas after defying the odds to survive.

Mollie Perrin's parents Stephanie, 34, and James, 38, were told to expect the worst when their daughter was born three months premature.

A picture of Mollie with her dad's wedding ring around her arm - illustrating how tiny she was - went viral after she was born on April 27.
But after 20 weeks in hospital Mollie defied the odds and has finally been allowed home.

She now weighs 8lbs and is preparing to spend her first Christmas with her family, a moment they never thought they would share.

Stephanie, from Hull, East Yorkshire, said: "She's now seven-months-old and we can't wait to enjoy our first Christmas Day as parents with our little Mollie.

"She's still so tiny - but looking back at the first photos of her with James's wedding ring around her arm brings tears to my eyes.

"It's amazing that she survived and has finally gained weight, it was such a worrying time but now her hand is too big to even fit through, showing how far she's come.

"We've already dressed her up in some really cute Christmas outfits, at one point thought we would never get the chance to share this special time with our first baby.

"The joy and relief we feel is just amazing, we can't wait to be able to finally be a family, it's so incredibly special."

Mollie's dad, James added: "At our first scan, the doctors told us we can only expect to have her for three weeks.

"When they told us, we both just broke down.

"There were so many questions we had to ask."

Mollie was diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR), a disorder that means the placenta does not work properly.

Stephanie, 34, spent two weeks in hospital prior to the birth of Mollie by emergency C-section.

James said: "Seeing all these other parents come in, having their baby and being able to take them home was heart-breaking."

At the end of August Stephanie and James were finally able to bring their little Mollie home.

Stephanie said: "She's been doing so well since we first got her home, and we still appreciate every single minute.

"She has such a great personality - she's nosy, loud, and smiling a lot.

"What we would really love for Christmas is to hear her laugh for the first time.

"We're going to have the whole family together on Christmas day - both mine and James' sides of the family - to enjoy our first Christmas with Mollie.

"We've all loved buying her Christmas presents.

"Her nan has got her a bouncer but she's still so small that she can't see over it.

"We really did get to a point earlier on this year where we never dreamed that we would have the opportunity to spend this time with our little girl.

"So we are really going to make the most of it - we are so excited."
